Heaven

I've just been reading a book about heaven and what it might be like. And I've got to say I'm getting pretty excited about it! A brand new, and infinitely better version of the old heavens and earth, where I can explore whatever countries, mountain ranges, beaches, planets I like, without

I think in the past I've thought of heaven as a place with lots of gold and rivers and trees and singing, for all eternity... kind of a bit boring. But this book is pointing out that when the Bible talks about heaven it most often says it will be a restoration of the old earth, but infinitely better. That's great, because I really like this earth, with all its mountains and beaches and people. I'm much more excited about heaven now, knowing that it will be just like an even better version of the earth and heavens how they are now - minus all the suffering, natural disasters, cancer, fighting, insecurity, etc. A place where I can go sailing (or whatever the heavenly version of that is) with Jesus himself, and Peter, and King David. Well, if they like sailing.

A place where we can travel to wherever we want to, whatever country, whatever planet, without having to worry about money for transport, oxygen, suncream, running out of time or having to go back to "the real world."

A place where everyone I meet turns out to be an awesome friend, and I just click with them, and they are so interesting I want to hang out with them for ages. And they think I'm interesting too.

A place where I can be exactly who I was made to be, with no limitations. Where I will never be a frustrated songwriter who can't quite express what he really wants to, or can't quite find enough time to really be creative. I'll be able to write songs with melodies and lyrics that actually are stunning enough to express God's beauty and glory, and to make people's hearts explode in worship and their feet start to dance, because they're so caught up in God's wonder.

It's unbelievable that this dream that always frustrates me here will actually be possible in heaven. I'm really looking forward to it!
